We strive to stop food waste by creating a sharing behavior that makes quality food available for all. It will enhance trust and reliance within the neighborhood communities by promoting a culture of giving and support by the community for the community.

Where everyone tries their best to stop food waste. Where everyone cares about people, resources, and the planet.

Indeed, it is not wrong to say that the food waste is one of the biggest problems facing humankind today. Here’s is why:

  • Over one third of all food produced globally goes to waste and the value of this wasted food is worth over $1 trillion. (FAO, National Geographic)
  • An area larger than China and 25% of the world’s fresh water supply is used to grow
food that is never eaten. (FAO, Plos One)
  • If food waste were a country it would be the 3rd largest emitter of greenhouse gases
(after China & the USA). (FAO)
  • Meanwhile, 821 million people go to bed hungry every night. That is 1 in 9 people on
the planet who are starving or malnourished. (Food Aid Foundation)
  • Due to COVID-19, 256 million will face acute food insecurity by the end of 2020 unless
    swift action is taken. (WFPUSA)
  • 2.3 billion people are joining the planet by 2050 – this will require a 60-70% increase
in global food production. Or we can just stop throwing away our food! (FAO)
  • According to some estimates every year around 36 million tons of food go to waste in
Pakistan including 40 percent of the cooked food.
  • Reportedly, in a major hotel in the Capital, 870kg of food is wasted each day. (The Nation)
  • Due to COVID-19, nearly 6.9 million households claim to have reduced the number or size of meals and Greater proportion of 50+ years old respondents (29%) report borrowing food or seeking a friend / relatives help. ( Gallup Pakistan)

Have you ever thought about eating the problem?

Are you thinking How?

Don’t worry! We are introducing Pakistan’s first food waste app that connects food surplus/ leftovers with food insecure locally.

Our first tech-based food waste solution of Pakistan will connect neighbors with neighbors and with businesses (local restaurants, grocery stores, catering service providers, and any other food donors), so the surplus food can be saved by sharing instead of wasting.
As a result, food deficits will eat great food for free or less, and households and businesses will receive recognition or an additional revenue stream. This could be leftover, unused/ unsold food at home, restaurants, parties, functions, and events and could be food nearing its best before date in local stores, bread from bakers, spare home vegetables, or the groceries in your fridge when you go away.
Our solution is simple, and the heart of our food rescue operations. All food rescue opportunities will be listed on the Sharing Out app, and food insecure will simply sign up and log on to the app for food rescue. The app will have all the details of food secured/ donated, food donors, and food rescuer, or insecure families. Sharing Out will make food rescue and sharing very simple and efficient.
